Practical Test
Once you have passed your theory test you can book your practical driving test. However it's important that you don't book your test until your driving instructor tells you that you are ready to book. Test waiting times can vary.
On the day of your test you will need to make sure you have your provisional driving licence with you. Your instructor will pick you up in time for you to have opportunity to get a bit of driving test practice and to arrive at the test centre about 10 minutes before the test is due to start.
The driving test lasts for approximately 38-40 minutes. It will comprise:
At the end of the test the examiner will tell you whether you have passed. The examiner will have kept a note of mistakes that you made on his ipad. If you have passed the examiner will normally offer to have your new licence sent to you directly in which case the examiner will keep the old licence. The new licence will usually arrive within a week or two.

- Independent driving (usually using the satnav) for 20 minutes
- Driving with driving directions given by the examiner
- One reversing manoeuvre
- Possibly a controlled stop (one test in three)
- An angled start
